So I went to the Zoo...

And I'll post some of the better pictures up on my other account (~FaeSeiren) later. It was a glorious day for taking pictures. :) The animals were all out and it was perfect. It was a very good day that words can't really even begin to cover. :)
A warning though: I'll probably be uploading quite a few, so don't feel obligated to comment or look at all of them. XD

In other news: Happy 4th. Admittedly, having lived out of the USA the first 18 years of my life leaves me feeling nothing special for today. July 4th on the misison field was a day of hanging out with other missionary families and enjoying American foods - of course, with lots of rice and hopefully Filipino foods as well. Of course, these are fond memories for the most part.
But yes, it does leave me feeling somewhat unpatriotic. I've never really felt a strong emotion for the States. Growing up that was where we went to visit family and remind our supporting churches that we were still existing. It was the place with all kinds of different foods and it had everything. America isn't home to me. I like it here, yes, but I love Tacloban City better. :) Personally.
That aside, that's why I love spending time with Jey's family - because they were in the Philippines as well. We can all talk about things that never happen in the US and laugh and talk with some Taglish thrown in. There's an understanding there. :) I mean, we sit around and swap stories about the legends and ghost stories as well as stories of demons and demon possessions and witch doctors.
I suck at trying to explain things. Sorry. :/

TL;DR I have a hard time relating to what "patriot" feels like and sometimes feel odd when I'm called an "American".

PS: Hess was a TCK (Third Culture Kid) too.

Likes: :icongrevengrishnackh:, drawing, DA friends, most animals, well-written original characters, roleplaying, brussel sprouts, Photoshop, WW2 Germany, video games, Deviantart, reading (when I have time~), a well-written critique, spoiling =GrevenGrishnackh, getting out of classes early, warmth, being inspired, coffee, Udon bowls, interesting debates/discussions, the way light reflects on a wet road

Dislikes: Assumptions, self-inserts ([link]), console wars, art thieves, Deviantart, math, Mary-Sues, really strong winds, cold weather, people who don't research before arguing, arguing, Snowflake personality disorder, self-proclaimed "so-random" people who go about screaming things like "CHEESE!" "MONKEY" and follow up with "LOL SO RANDOM I KNOW." (I'm not really this hateful, I promise. XD), pictures uploaded that are too huge to be appreciated (i.e. full-sized at 3000x5000 or whatever instead of a nice-sized view), people who are full of themselves
